Hands down, my favorite Indian place in Salt Lake City. :) The food is excellent, the service is (almost) always wonderful, and my tummy leaves happy. My favorites are the chicken coconut korma and the chicken saag. What I like best about their food is that it is spiced so well that it doesn't matter the "hotness" you like it-- it will taste wonderful from bland-and-boring to burn-your-face-off. Show up for the lunch buffet sometime so you can taste a little bit of this and a little bit of that.... :)

It was exactly what I would have expected it to be. It was lunch. On a weekday. September 2nd, 2015. Partly cloudy, temperatures in the upper 80's. Visibility was very good. It's been windy. Parked in the shade. Got there early. Stayed late. Didn't have much to do and my friend was getting his vehicle repaired. We caught up. I eventually dropped him off at the nearby Century Theater where he went to a movie by himself. Weird. I'd never seen so many senior citizens going in but I guess that's their thing and time of day. But I digress. I don't think I saw a single senior citizen at Tandoor Indian Grill. It was mostly work-a-day Joes, getting by the best they can. The buffet was delightful. I'd go with the tandoor chicken and tika masala (I really don't know what should or shouldn't be capitalized when referring to proper Indian food names). There was a bunch of other stuff that was exotic and had names but I don't remember them. They brought a delightful basket of naan. We ate it. We drank water. There were a bunch of dessert items available along with salad. I don't care much for greens and I'm fat enough from the gin I drink that I don't need sweets. Service was exceptional and our glasses were never empty, the wind was always at our back and the ground always rose up to meet us as we walked to and from the buffet. I don't remember what it cost. It did fill me up. I'd consider it again but the chances of me being anywhere near 3300 South 700 East around noon with an appetite is remote.I'm just being honest. This is not the Indian version of Chuck-a-Rama but there are lots of option and it was very busy. Can't speak to dinner, didn't look at a menu. I really like Indian food, of the eastern variety. The only western Indian food I know of is the Navajo Taco and I've already covered that in another review. There's just something about something in Indian food that leaves me feeling like I ate something that wouldn't be considered edible anywhere else. There are no exceptions to this. Even my most favorite of favorite Indian restaurants leave me with the feeling that there are ingredients in that stuff that are not meant for human consumption. Know what I mean? Even if you don't, that's OK. I'm purposely being vague. Still, I go back time after time.

Hmm, how have I not reviewed this yet? I have eaten here way more times than I care to admit. This place is so good. I remember before it was Tandoor, I cant recall the name. It was some really crappy Indian place with horrible service (The kind where I had to help myself into the kitchen to get a glass of water). The ambiance in here is one that I love. It's an awesome place to take a date if you are cool with Indian food for a first date. They also have a buffet for all the gluttons out there, myself included that is totally worth it. This place definitely gets all the stars.

I had their lunch buffet here on Saturday and woke up Sunday with an overwhelming desire to go back. As someone who craves Indian food maybe once every six months, this was remarkable, and speaks to the crazy freshness and deliciousness of every single item on their buffet. First, the server brings your Naan out fresh to order. Holy crap does this make a difference. So hot, soft and well-seasoned with a lightly buttery flaky crust! There were two chicken dishes on the buffet that were amazing, so moist and flavorful. There are a ton of little dipping sauces and ways to mix and match which is a lot of fun, but maybe a bit overwhelming if you're not too knowledgeable about Indian food like myself, but this is hardly a complaint. They also serve ice cream; the first time I've seen this at an Indian place. I'm not sure how ice cream fits into the cuisine, but I found it to be a refreshing way to end the meal and tamp down some of the more jubilant flavors still banging around my mouth. I am so impressed with how good their buffet was. Food stayed fresh, and nearly everything stood on it's own and I'd gladly pay for as a meal in and of itself. It was obvious that this was the real deal, not just cheap "buffet food" thrown out there to overcome quality with quantity. I can't wait to come back and get my eat on again.

Not sure what happened to my other reviews? I thought I had commented on this place before? Love the buffet here, always has a wide variety of awesome things to try. Service is always top notch. I think the best day for the buffet is on Sunday as they seem to have the most items on that day. I am a regular and probably forget to check in and take pics a lot.

I went for their Sunday lunch buffet. The restaurant looks elegant and the seating is comfortable for having a long lunch meet-up. Service is good. But I feel the food spread is not very extensive. Ok they have the Chicken Dum Biryani, which is good. Not omg-blow-my-mind good, but pleasant. I was hoping for more explosive burst of tastes considering I heard this place serves good biryani. Probably I have to come for ala-carte dinner to sample their other biryanis. The Chicken tandoori was tender and flavorful. Full mark there. I like the Goat curry, although the meat is slightly chewy. Chicken Makhani tastes good with Naan bread. I just wished they had a spicier version of it. In fact, come to think of it, nothing here is even remotely spicy, which is atypical of authentic Indian food. For desserts, I really like the Mango Mousse. Very tropically refreshing. The Kheer Rice Milk Pudding is ok. The Gulab Jamoons is slightly chewier and not as sweet as I remember Gulab Jamoons normally are. I probably will come back if I am in the neighborhood.

Love this place. The owner is personable and funny. He and my 5 year old discussed mustaches. Dosa Thursday is AWESOME. You get 9-10 sample dosas and idli sambar. Perfectly filling without being too much. Tandoor is a step above all the other Indian restaurants in the valley.

We're starving. We Yelp for food and the closest place is Tandoor Indian Grill. Cool as rice pudding we figure. We find it in two minutes and enter for lunch. A grim man with no verbal inclination points for us to sit anywhere in the stale, overly warm room, and we serendipitously find a table with a dead fly starring up at us. Normally I run for the door in such circumstances, but my wife was hungry and well, you make decisions. After another 10-12 minutes of watching other customers receive water and attention from the "servers," I finally get up and go directly to a waitress and ask what we need to do to get served. She looks indignant, and I come off like a hot fart in a stuffy elevator. Going down ... If you eat from a food truck, I don't expect great service. Cook it and hand it over, I'll find a place to sit and will wipe my mouth on a shirt sleeve. If I'm at a sit down restaurant, I think the service is equally as important as the food. In this place, the food is twice, nay, thrice as nice, as the people that work here. I loved the naan bread, but the naan-attentivness not so much. Not once were we asked if we enjoyed the food, or needed anything. It was Jimmy Buffett all the way, so I trust they can appreciate the lack of gratuity. Okay, you want a tip people? Try smiling at least once when folks walk in. Get us water and drink orders right away. Check on customers at least once before they have to run you down and pay a tab they never received. Check your fly clad table settings before blindly asking diners to find their way and maybe we'll come back, rather than having to revisit you "here," instead.

Tandoor is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Salt Lake valley. Love their lunch buffet which is from 11-2:30. Their menu items are very flavorful and very tasty. Their bread (naan) is made fresh when ordered. Their chicken curry is one of my favorite dishes. Comes with Basmati rice. Very good place.

Meh, pretty disappointed today. All the food lacked salt and distinctive flavor that Indian food carries. The garlic naan was so dry, I couldn't eat it. The lamb was tough, overcooked. I even asked the server if the chef had changed but he informed me it was the same chef. I was craving Indian food so bad and this did not hit the spot.

We tried the lunch buffet and it was pretty good - there were lots of options for both vegetarians as well as non vegetarians. The chicken kabab was great and do definitely try the mango chutney! Overall a great option for buffet lunch

Their garlic naan is amazing today! Never know it could taste that good! I am not a huge fan of Indian food, and almost cannot identify the name of any dishes. A Indian co-worker took me to this place about a year ago and I only been here couple of times for their lunch buffet. But honestly their food is probably better than most restaurants I usually went to. Their taste and quality is really stable, dishes and table are all well cleaned. I tried every type of their food in lunch buffet and have no problem on any of them, only difficult for me is to remember the name(so that is why I go to their buffet and don't have to deal with menu). Their food are comparable with Kathmandu, with brighter and cleaner environment.

My Designated Dining Companion is a huge fan of this place having been there once with a friend and then taking me twice for the buffet on Saturday afternoon. The negatives: stocking the buffet (get there early) and temperature. Most of the food seems to only be warm when it is fresh from the kitchen and otherwise cools to room temperature as it sits there as there seems to be little or no warming under the trays. Having said that, the choices and flavors are wonderful. Some of the items were different on each visit and we have been perfectly happy with the service although it can be brusk. However, that often seems to be the nature of the culture and should not be off-putting. Just be ready with where you want to sit and what you want to eat. NOTE: The naan is included with the buffet but is not presented that way and always seems like an attempted sneaky up-sell, something I detest at buffets. I do not like it when things that are extra cost are offered as if they are included and then you are surprised when the bill comes. But here you can safely get the bread without worrying and then spend your extra money on a giant mango lassi.

They had me at Thursday night dosa nights. They have a good variety of dosas to choose from and one idli dish is usually included. The chutneys and sambar are spot-on and taste homemade. The masala dosa doesn't have as much filling as I would like, but the potatoes are cooked and seasoned well. As for their regular menu, I have only tried the tandoori chicken and it was delicious. Service was great and really friendly. Looking forward to eating more dosas and trying more on their menu.

Not only is the food amazing, but the staff is amazing. Komal is not only very professional and kind, but we look forward to seeing her every time. There are other places close to our house but we make the trip just for Komal and the restaurants amazing food!!

We've never dinned in here but my wife and I have gotten carry out on several occasions. We have tried several of the curries and the naan and have always been very happy with the food. The service is always polite and quick. The food is a good quality and quantity for the price.

Tandoor Indian Grill ranks as one of the top Indian food restaurants in the Salt Lake valley. Serves was excellent and the quality of food perfect.

Amazing lunch buffet, great curries, excellent service. If they have it try the incredible mango ice cream. Fairly inexpensive as well. It's a nice alternative to the Bombay House if you get tired of the busyness. The interior is old school strip mall, but the great food makes up for it.

Myself and Indian food are at odds, apparently diametrically opposed forever. Still, enough praise was heaped on this and enough people have said that it sometimes takes just the "right" place that I was vaguely interested in this, though mostly to see if they had tandoori chicken in the buffet, since that is the one Indian food I like (and admittedly, I like it a lot). If they had it, I could have a plate full of nothing but those red chicken pieces and be quite content. As it was, I got here too late for that, though. Instead, off the menu, I got a three meat something. Shrimp was acceptable, lamb (another thing I've not ever discovered any fondness of taste within myself for) I could have done without and the tandoori chicken was fantastic...but not the best thing. The best thing was the garlic naan, which more or less earned this thing the extra nudge to 3 (I was thinking more 2.5). Rice was also acceptable, but the green tea was noxious. It frankly should be removed from the menu entirely. Service was very nice and the place looked gorgeous. Very nice layout and settings and the staff seemed to try very, very hard, though the overhead was way, way too loud. I imagine if I liked Indian food, I would have loved this place, but the gastrointestinal distress I had shortly after seemed a good indicator that trying to order Indian food with no onions works about as well as trying to get gasoline with no alcoholic content. Taste-wise, this didn't change my mind and except for the tandoori chicken and garlic naan, didn't really click at all. If you dig Indian food, you'll probably like this, but as for me...have to keep looking, I guess...maybe someday I'll stumble on it...though it's not like that's any sort of urgent search or even much of an active one...

Incredible chicken tikka masala (I'd recommend getting it at least medium spice, as it's not very hot and the spice seems to thicken up the dish and enhance the flavor). Also give the Aloo Naan a try with it - amazing! My wife also likes the Masala Dosa a lot

I love their lunch buffet! Although I haven't eaten dinner there but I'm sure it's the same quality. I enjoy the buffet so I can try several different dishes. The food is always fresh and a great variety. The staff is friendly and attentive and their Naan is the best. This is a lunchtime favorite!

The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the service is kind and attentive.. I have been there twice, never had to wait longer than 5 minutes to be seated. The outside kinda throws you off when you first see it, but when you go inside, the lighting is warm, the way the restaurant is furnished and decorated feels like an Indian restaurant, this is important because some places don't seem to care about appearance, but not here, the overall place feels like it is a higher standard Indian cuisine restaurant, I know because I have been to many to eat and this feels different. All in all, you can't go wrong here, alone or on a date, it's a great sit down place to eat or order to take home, Def going back and recommend it.

This evening my family was literally standing around in the kitchen trying to sort out what to eat for dinner when we asked my mother what she wanted and she said, "Something NOT American!" We put her in the car and off to Tandoor Indian Grill we went. I have eaten here often enough that not only do they recognize me when I come in, but I also usually do not even need to order. I must admit I love it when a restaurant is that consistent with its staff and the quality of the food is that consistent that I trust to just go back and eat it all again. My sister and nephew had joined us and we had the best waiter, Siraj. I promise that I am not exaggerating when I tell you that he was truly a gift to us this evening. My mother just looked at him and said, "Just bring me whatever you think I'll like!" And that is exactly what Siraj did. Beautiful aromatic delicious things came from the kitchen and were placed in front of her like she was visiting royalty. You have to know my mother, but she thought this was the most marvelous dining experience ever and kept exclaiming, over and over, just how WONDERFUL it all was. My sister had the tikka masala shrimp and I knew she would be happy because, quite honestly, Tandoor Indian Grill does some of the best Tikka Masala anything anywhere in Utah. I'm grateful they're here. Truly. And my nephew had a very spicy Chicken Curry. I opted for the dosas (it was Dosa Thursday) and just trusted Siraj, again, to bring me everything vegetarian until I was completely satiated. All of us ate and shared stories and laughed and had a wonderful family meal while Siraj made absolutely certain that we always had enough naan, enough rice and plenty of everything else. If I could, I'd bring him home with me. There's nothing better than sharing time with family, especially when someone else gets to do the dishes.

Tandoor is a family favorite and has been even though they've changed owners and chefs multiple times. Some of my favorite dishes are the channa masala, masala dosa, and the chili chicken. The best part about tandoor is their dosa night which happens every Thursday. If you've never had dosa, well this is your night! So many different and crazy varieties of dosa and it's an all you can eat so make sure you're prepared for some delicious South Indian food! The staff is really nice and friendly and the restaurant itself looks good. Tandoor is a great place to try Indian food for those of you who want to get your curry on.

Great family owned restaurant with reasonable prices. Inventive, delicious dishes that are consistently well made. The hubby and I frequently get food to go from Tandoor, but their dinning experience is great inside the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and their dining area has plenty of room. Some of my favorites includes the pumpkin masala, vegetable koorma, and their samosas. Unless I move out to the south end of the Valley (over my dead body), Tandoor will continue to be a favorite for me and my hubby.

The food is pretty good and the servers are very nice, however, the amount of time it takes to bring out water, coffee, and good takes a very very long time. The funny part is that they were not busy either. Granted, we did have a party of 15 for a birthday, however, the service is very slow. I ordered the chicken cilantro and it was pretty tasty. I ordered a cup of coffee which was pretty strong and creamy. The carrot dessert is kind of scary but it was very sweet. Couldn't eat all of it because of the sweetness in which I'm not a big fan of. I prefer Bombay Indian house better.

We ordered chicken biriyani and tandoori chicken. Both were ok. Yellow color biriyani with no closest taste. First time saw tandoori watery like gravy having seasoning. I'll say average taste food and not to the expectations.

This place has friendly service and very tasty food! We showed up on Friday around 5:30/6 and the place wasn't terribly crowded but as the night went on, the place filled up very quickly. We usually go to Bombay House when we have the Indian food craving but decided to try this place as it is very close to our house. I'm glad we tried it because it's delicious. We had the samosas for an appetizer and they were very flavorful served with two tasty sauces. Our server recommended I have the chana masala and my boyfriend had the tandori chicken. The chana was excellently seasoned and very filling and my boyfriend enjoyed his chicken. Everyone here is very friendly and provide prompt drink refills and service. You can tell this is family owned and they truly care about their food and service. If you live close, definitely check this place out. They offer a lot of unique dishes, along with some standard Indian favorites and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I am reviewing their lunch buffet . It had a nice variety and the flavor were good for 80% of the dishes. I'm not a fan of buffets so that is pretty for me. Everything was good except for the vegetarian dishes . I didn't like the flavor of those. Try the lentil soup if you have the chance. We didn't want the dessert that came with the buffet so we ordered the gulab jamun . I went there with my Pakistani friend and I eat indian a lot too . Their gulab jamun was awful. The dough was hard like it was not cooked properly . We were disappoint but other than that it was a nice place for an indian buffet . There buffet came with naan. The waiter heard us talk about it being cold and bought another one . That was nice of him .

1. Ambience is good. 2. They had both north and South Indian recipes so that was a bliss :) 3. Excellent service by those girls. 4. We had assorted appetizer ( bajji, samosa, Bonda, mirchi bonda) that was good. 5. Plain dosa was excellent and side dish sambar was good but coconut chutney had a fair taste and tomato chutney was horrible. 6. Idly was good. 7. Rava dosa was good. 8. Coffee too much of milk, seems just for the heck to get the coffee taste I guess they added a pinch of coffee powder:( that was quite disappointing.

Although we sometimes come here at night and order dosas our most usual visits are for the lunch buffet. It offers a good variety of items including some, like idli, not available at most most local Indian places. There also seems to be some seasonal variation (pumpkin today). We eat this type of food monthly and consider this the second or third best south Asian place (after Saffron Valley East and tied with Bombay House). Hospitable service. Decent ambiance for this sort of restaurant.

It is rather common that reviews for this place refer to their lunch buffet. This is for one good reason; their buffet is unparalleled. While I like to go there with my family and friends it is also ideal for a quicker lunch with coworkers. Since time is often an issue for going out to lunch on a work day I find that the buffet is a great to make it a bit more reasonable. Walk in, drop your coat, go grab a plate and get to it. It is also mentioned that the variety of the buffet is commendable and I most certainly have to agree. You never really know what they will have that day. Some people may not like that but since you can rely on it being extremely good you really can't lose. If you like Indian food, this is the place to go.

Excellent food + service. The interior of the restaurant is very nice (nicer than you might think from driving down 3300 South). We got takeout, but would be very interested in eating at the restaurant. Veggie Saag, Veggie Masala (dishes come with basamati rice, and lots of it), Veggie Pekora, and Onion Naan = more than enough for 2 for 2 nights = ~ $32. Great deal. Can't wait to try it again.

I really like Tandoor! Although most of the time we get take out the atmosphere is really pretty nice. The ambiance is well done for it being in a strip mall. Every time we get take out the food is consistently fresh and good quality. I don't have much bad to say about it besides prices are just a little high but honestly worth is for the amount of food you receive!

I stopped in for a lunch buffet a few weeks ago, and enjoyed tasting several things on the menu. Before anything, though, I want to give a word of love, and then a word of warning about Indian buffets. This applies to all of them--Tandoor is no exception--so listen up. Indian food can be amazing. It's full of adventure, exotic spices, and flavors that shake your whole body. It can be explored almost endlessly, and I'd love to have it a few times a day. In fact, as I think fondly of my favorite Indian buffet experiences, it brings a smile to my face as I recall going back for more, more, and more. But therein lies the warning. Control yourself. Just because you CAN eat that much, doesn't mean you should. There is such thing as self-control, and you should really save some craving for later. If you overdo it early on, you're liable to ruin the whole experience and have to take a long break from all the goodness of Indian food, and then you're missing out. Don't say you haven't been warned. This is certainly the case at Tandoor. It would be easy to grab one too many plates. Amongst the winners was the standard chicken tikka maasala and biryani, as well as samosas. I wasn't as big of a fan of their paneer (I don't really remember what form it took, if that's any indication of my averageness on the subject), but I still had some. I had a few servings of the mango custard, but it was frozen the first time through. I had to let it sit for a bit to thaw. No worries--it was delightful nonetheless.

Ate here last night. Really friendly service. Food was good, but not standout, though we did order the standards - and how much can you do with that? The saag was a bit too salty. The lassi was ginormous. We'll try them again in the future since it was decent and located close by. If it were further away, I don't think I'd put it on the list of places to trek to.

We Love this place! Come here every time we're in the area! Good atmosphere, great people and fantastic food! We've been for lunch and dinner and both are outstanding! From the appetizer, to the meal, to the extras like their garlic naan!

This is my favorite and my go to when I'm craving GOOD Indian food. From the naan, to their succulent Chicken Tikka Masala, their Mango Lassi, lamb curry, vegetable samosas, etc.... I mean, have to try them! Their lunch buffet is great for price and taste. The only thing that I don't love about them is that the food isn't kept warm enought. It's a little on the cold side. It could be because they cook big batches at a time.

This is my favorite Indian Restaurant in SLC, especially the lunch buffet and I have tried almost all of them. You might ask - what separates Tandoor from the pack? First, they serve fresh hot naan bread at the buffett, not lukewarm naan like most places. Second, the tables are set with cloth table clothes and napkins. Third and most important, the food is varied and delicious. The best days to visit are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the lunch buffett when they add some extra offerings such as a chaat appetizer table. I also appreciate the prompt and friendly service of the wait staff. Next best Indian Lunch Buffett is Saffron Valley in South Jordan, followed by The Copper Bowl.

Very impressed. This is another strip mall Indian restaurant located in a nondescript neighborhood in the lower Millcreek area. No curb appeal... but once you step inside the setting is terrific, the service attentive, and the food absolutely delicious. If you can ever convince your "ethnic-food-loathing; meat-and-potatoes-loving" baby boomer parents to actually try an Indian restaurant... this would be the one. The food is well seasoned and delicious, but not overly spicy (unless you request otherwise). Tandoor Chicken dish is absolutely superb. Korma dishes are excellent as well. I also highly recommend the Mango Lassi.

I've been wanting to try this place for the past 3 years, since we moved to 33rd south. Indian food is my favorite, so I am very picky. This is some of the best I have had. The coconut korma was probably the best I have had. We also ordered the cilantro chicken. Both dishes were so rich in flavor that you wanted to spend your time eating to really savor the goodness. The service is great, and the prices are fair.

I really like Indian food. I love eating it at Bombay House. A lot of other people do too. Unfortunately I am not very good at waiting. Good thing there's Tandoor. Seriously. Lamb Saag, highly recommended on Yelp and for good reason. The spinach really does stand out on its own, and not in the "eww, spinach" way, but the "mmm, spinach" way. And then you magically turn into Popeye. Just kidding. The lamb part was also very tasty in this dish. Lamb Samosas... there's a trend going on in my ordering system, but really, I just like lamb. And these did not disappoint. Many cultures have dishes that have meat wrapped in some form of carb and fried, and they're all delicious. Chicken Tikka. My boyfriend and I thought he ordered tikka masala, and were pleasantly surprised when these delicious chunks of chicken and vegetables came on a sizzling platter. It was done perfectly, the chicken was moist and tender and had the perfect flavor, and the vegetables, my goodness, I would have eaten them alone. Overall, great first dining experience at Tandoor, I probably will be coming back during my next Indian food craving.

For those of you who have read some of my other reviews, you have probably guessed that I love Indian Food! This place is a little too far from my house to be a regular dinner spot, there's closer Indian restaurants to me that I also enjoy. With that said, I used to work close to here and had the lunch buffet many times. It was literally a Friday lunch tradition for quite some time, and some of us still go back sometimes and meet here for lunch. I think that alone should speak volumes for how good this place is. Now obviously, that means the lunch buffet is the focus of the review, not the dinner menu. Judging by all the other good reviews I see though I'm guessing it would not disappoint by any means! Now, for context - I'll just say, generally I am not a fan of the buffets at Indian restaurants, but Tandoor really has this down and knows how to do it right. All the food is always fresh, warm and kept topped up and the selection is wonderful. I love both the meat and vegetable curries, they are always of really good quality. As someone else commented on, the vegetable based items in general are all very good, so I would think it's a good option for anyone that is vegetarian. They usually have Chicken Tikka Massala too as well as tandoori style chicken, both of which are also very good, and of course the usual naan, pappadums, rice and deserts you would expect from any Indian restaurant. Honestly, the buffet alone is enough to earn Tandoor 4 stars, but I'm upping my score to 5 because the service here is consistently very friendly and attentive. Considering the number of times I've been I have NEVER had anything but a good experience, and they always seem to treat you like they are actually pleased to see you, unlike a lot of other restaurants situated in the unfashionable end of the Western spiral arm of the galaxy we inhabit. I never imagined I would give any buffet style lunch 5 stars - so well done Tandoor, you have earned it :)

Tandoor is my FAVORITE Indian restaurant! The food is always beyond delicious. I almost always get the dosas. The lunch buffet is a treat as well, especially for the price. They also have the best, friendliest, and most accommodating service. I've definitely become a regular here!

Amazing. I actually physically crave the food here, and have made many demands when it comes to dining here :) I am a vegan and feel well taken care of here with many many choices to choose from. If you are looking for authentic, flavorful curries and dosas, this is the place! Don't think twice about the location (in a strange strip mall) because it really is the best Indian food around. I try not to order the same thing each time because everything on the menu will not disappoint. They also have a traditional nan bread that is vegan friendly.

The food, the ambiance, and the prices, all delightful as well as the service staff. Could not go wrong coming here.

Fellow Yelper Brendan K and I were having a discussion the other day about what constitutes a five star dining experience (theory-crafting if you will) and how a proper review should be determined. We both agreed that an "innocent until proven guilty" approach should be utilized when reviewing a restaurant. What this means is, you should approach the establishment under the assumption it is a five star joint and then incrementally pick it apart, and as you find individual faults, then thus the rating would drop, or alternatively, if the dining experience produces no faults, then the five star rating holds steady and true. With that being said, I can safely say I have eaten at Tandoor over forty times in the course of three years (reason being is that I work close by and Tandoor is a go-to spot for a quick lunch) and NEVER have had a bad experience. Multiple experiences, each and every one of those experiences being faultless... has insured Tandoor a perfect five star rating... as well as a special place both in my heart and, more importantly, in my stomach. I have eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and I place Tandoor in my holy trinity of Indian restaurant goodness.(Bombay House, Himalayan Kitchen, Tandoor) Granted, the "experience" at Tandoor pales in comparison to the turbaned gentlemen at Bombay who pour you wine with a wink and a golden-toothed smile. Nor is it in as hip of an area as Himalayan. But the food here can definitely go twelve rounds with either of these places. Tandoor, in my opinion, has THE BEST lunch buffet in town. The buffet is eight dollars. The selections tend to vary with a few consistent staples which include Chicken Masala and/or buttered chicken. Tandoor always has a number of vegetarian selections which the hipster crowd should find appealing. I recommend going on Wednesday as this is the day Tandoor serves their Shish-kabob chicken - a wonderful eating experience. The chicken literally bursts with juicy flavor as the various spices swirl in your mouth. The bismati rice is perfectly cooked and a variety of sauces (some very hot) are available to kick up your curry a few notches. An order of Naan comes with the buffet price. Their Naan is excellent - not too crispy. Oh and save room for dessert! The buffet also includes the customary rice pudding. The dinner entrees range between 10-14 dollars and they are quite good as well. The only negative, as others have pointed out, is the exterior. The sign is a bit run down, but once you walk in you will be amazed by the decor. It is spacious, clean, and well maintained. The service at Tandoor is also extremely good. A polite, soft-spoken gentleman (his name escapes me now) is always there to greet you with enthusiasm and warmth as well as insure that your drinks are filled and you are fully satisfied with your meal. I highly recommend this place for a quick business lunch, family dinner, or a date night. The food is excellent. The price is right. And the location is convenient for those of us whom do not live downtown.

Excellent food and the Samosa's are excellent! The service was great as well. We'll be back to this spot for sure!

The buffet was terrible. Lot of the food seemed stale. I've had better food here before but after today will have to think twice before considering this place!

I love Indian food. I don't like Indian Star. I do like Bombay House. After reading many reviews of Tandoor I've been wanting to try it for some time and my time came for a graduation lunch for a friend of mine. The lunch buffet is excellent, lots of food and plenty of choices. Especially great for vegetarian such as my graduating friend and girlfriend. I honestly have no idea what everything is, but the meat curry was ok. I think my favorite was actually the vegetarian curry that had a tomato flavor to it. It was delicious. The naan was excellent with everything, seeing as how I'm Asian and need rice with everything, sadly Indian rice is not my favorite. The garlic naan and original naan are delicious. The mango ice cream type dessert was delicious though. As was the rice pudding. Service was excellent and I'll have to come back for dinner.

Best service...EVER! The food was great as well! We had chicken tikka masala (obviously) and it was spectacular! The naan was perfect and several different types of dosa were delicious.
Had the Lamb Korma and it was excellent. Service was good. Tandor came highly recommended by some Indian nationals, and I will agree with them. Highly recommend Tandor Grill.

Northern Indian cuisine with a touch of Nepalis and Persian flavoring. Went during lunch for their buffet. The price was too cheap for what they were serving. A lot of variety. Probably shouldn't be called a grill when there was only Tandoori Chicken and mostly vegetarian food. I understand most Indian cuisines are vegan or vegetarians, but since they are called a grill, I'd expect more lamb, goat, chicken, and fish on their menu. They lost a star because I wanted lamb vindaloo, and they didn't have that in their buffet. However, their Chicken Tikka Masala made up for that. It was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and blended well. Their naan was perfect and as naan should be. Decor. the inside is nothing like the outside. They are fancy and has white linen with goblets. I rate my food based on location. Unfortunately if I was to rate these restaurants based on the food I've had in Napa Valley, NYC, SF, Las Vegas, or even Dothan Alabama, most places would get 1 star. So for Utah, this is what it is, the indian food was good and gets 4 stars compared to the many many other Indian placed in Utah.

My fellow Yelpers, let me begin by saying, do not judge this book by it's cover! For the treasure you will find is worth far past it's weight in gold. I have been putting off going to this place for a fortnight, maybe longer. (I've just been wanting to use fortnight in a review) My reluctance has been solely based on it's outward appearance. I know, I know it's horrible of me to say but I'm being honest! However I broke down and gave it a shot! Let me start with a little explanation of the exterior. It seems to me they spent a lot of money on the sign, it's a nice sign, but does nothing to draw you in. This diamond in the rough is slotted between a couple random shops in an inconspicuous strip mall. Let the mundane stop there. I walked in the front door not knowing what to expect, and from the outside appearance I was bracing myself for the worst. I was so stunned I had to shake off the shock and take another look. The dining room is elegant, clean, roomy, and any other good analogy you can think of for a restaurant dinning area. The smell was inviting, and the lunch buffet area open and inviting. To top it off they have fresh flowers at every table. We were greeted by a very humble and kind gentleman who took us to our seat he asked us for our preference, booth or table, and obliged. He immediately filled our waters, and asked if we had any questions about the restaurant. We both opted for the buffet and away we went. The buffet is well laid out, clean, and organized. Everything fresh, labeled, and easy to access. There was a huge assortment of food. From fresh salad, vegetarian, rice, and meat dishes. There was something for all! Upon sitting down the kind/humble man, our server, asked if we wanted any additional drinks or fresh nan. We opted for the traditional, however there were many options, and it was hot fresh, and delicious. The reason I'm giving Tandoor a 5 start rating is due to my recent experiences at their very close competitors, in close I mean both in location and menu. I have had a couple bad experiences at these competitors and was so surprised and refreshed by every aspect of my experience at Tandoor. I encourage everyone that loves Indian cuisine to go out on a limb and try this diamond in the rough! You will be happy you did! P.S. The only plus I could think to add to this place would be a live sitar player in the corner, I would volunteer but I don't know the first thing about sitar playing!

This place is very nice & clean. The staff is attentive & polite. I had chicken tikki masala. it was good but not the best Indian food in the valley. The chicken was actually perfect but the sauce flavor was a bit mute.

Absolutely love this place! I have eaten here several times in my stay in SLC. I can say their service is highly regarded from the time you walk in the door until you pay, you are treated like a VIP. With impeccable service, a great open setting that can handle large groups (as well as smaller table for a cozy date. Their food is delicious and fresh. I have been able to ask for custom items (not on the menu), with no problem. And when I asked for "very hot" on the curry - they gave me just that! Pricing here matches the quality (you get what you pay for). You wont be disappointed.

Now I am no connoisseur of Indian food, and I have a handful of places at the most to compare this place to, but it was a fantastic experience. I went here with my father and my husband for lunch so I was able to try several dishes and all of them were wonderful. In honesty, I had intended on going to Ali Baba but the combination of my momentary lapse of sense of direction, and Google Maps on my phone led us to the golf course on 7th East and 26th South (the wrong Ali Baba). So I remembered my fellow Yelper Brendan K had recommended Tandoor and I am so happy he did. Upon arrival, it does look a little dismal and my husband was vocal about it looking a little sketch, since the sign was missing its face. But as others have said, the inside was really stunning at first glance. Modern tall water glasses with cloth napkins folded inside them, as well as thick white linen table cloths. The smell was a lovely welcome as you enter as well, sweet and spicy food hitting your nose. We were sat by a quiet petite woman who took us to a booth in the back. We sat at a rather awkward table as it was about a foot away from the wall. The tables don't match the length of the booth, which was shocking since everything else seemed handpicked with class in mind. Now since the table was so far set from the wall, it was hard not to notice the two tone paint of the room. It was either messily applied with a shaky hand, or there was once some kind of divider separating the colors that is no longer there. Also while I was admiring my surrounding I noticed the light over the table was really really dusty, and that was off putting. Ok on to the food already. We ordered a chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, garlic naan and a lamb sheesh kabob. It took about 15-20 mins for our food to come out sizzling on a griddle, and I was actually happy it took that long. I wrote a review for an Indian place downtown and my food came reheated and gross, this place was the polar opposite. The food was tender and delicious, I asked for my tandoori chicken medium hot and it was the perfect heat. I tried a piece of my husbands lamb, and my fathers tikka, and they were both fantastic. The caramelized veggies stuck to the bottom of the griddle were blackened and delicious. I loved scraping them up and placing some on my naan, weird I know. The rice that came with the dishes was fragrant and cooked really well. The naan was gorgeous, the garlic was sweet and just the right amount of bitter, and the dough was crispy and chewy in perfect proportions. Our server was replaced with a younger gentleman and he was attentive without invading our feast. We were singing our praises to him to relay to the kitchen and as he was packing up our leftovers he said he would return with rice pudding. We groaned with swelled stomachs in delight and pain, but good lord was it worth siding with the fat girl inside me (well a little on the outside too, but hey). It was creamy and silky, the rice was perfect and since its made with saffron, you can taste that kind of tinny, weird, amazing flavor it adds to dishes. I will be back with the hubby and sucker my other family members to go with me so that I can talk them into ordering something different from me so I can taste as much as possible in one sitting.

Indian is by far my favorite cuisine, but Tandoor Grill managed to disappoint me. I gave them two chances and neither time was the food up to par. If you want a much better experience, try Bombay House or New Delhi Palace.

Good. Wait staff was friendly and no complaints about the food. Nothing stood out. The service was a little slow but I think it was just a mixup with my order going to the wrong table. They gave me a free tapioca dessert, but it was lumpy. Overall just fine, I would return unless I found a better place.

My wife and I love the food here. The rice and naan are excellent. Everything I've tried here (and I've tried at least half the menu) has been really good. My favorite is probably the chicken shahi korma or maybe the lamb korma while my wife loves the aloo gobi. The staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable ($8-$13 for most entrees).

Their buffet is one of the best Indian buffets out there! And fresh naan bread brought to you? Can't beat that. The service was great and always has been. Another big plus for me is that the buffet is very clean. I'm sometimes hesitant to go to some buffets because of the cleanliness factor. This place passes for sure!

The first time I went here for buffet it was ok. This second time I was much happier. The place was full of South Asian families having Sunday buffet. Everything was quiet good. I lived in India for a year so I have some experience with Indian food. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the Naan. It was very bready and not thin and stretchy the way I like it. The Kheer was absolutely divine! So much cardamom and perfect texture and temperature. I stuffed myself with a second serving it was so fantastic. Definitely going back here again.

This restaurant has a great buffet, which begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. I was very impressed with the quality and variety of the options. I also really like that it was only $10 per person. There were over half a dozen sauces and about a dozen dishes to choose from. There was also a dessert. I'm also a fan of the unlimited (included) fresh/warm naan brought to the table. We had the garlic naan, but there are other varieties as well. Finally, I had some chai and really enjoyed it. It was very gingery and without too much sugar. I like to add my own to taste.

This place is great for takeout or first dates. The marinated chicken skewers with peanut sauce is divine. Great vegetarian options as well.

My bf was extremely reluctant to try Indian food until some Indian co-workers recommended this place. The food is delectable. I've had a number of different items here and I think I've enjoyed every single one. The naan is fluffy, the chai is spicy, the curries are saucy and nicely spiced (you can choose the level of heat). The service is superb and the ambience is calming.

Tried the lunch buffet several months ago. It was on the higher end of adequate. Nothing blew me away. The atmosphere was a little off-putting. I'd be okay going back there, but why, when there's places like Bombay House and Himalayan Kitchen?

So good! We went tonight, and it totally hit the spot. Of the many places we've tried so far (Royal India, Ganesh, Himalayan Kitchen, Curry in a Hurry/Masala), Tandoor is the best. The bajji was delicious, the lamb koorma was divine. The service was great. A man who I presume to be the owner was very attentive to us, even though the restaurant was pretty full. Don't let the location deter you. Some of the best restaurants are in strip malls. We will definitely be going back.

This is, by far, my favorite Indian food in SLC. I've never tried the buffet, because the palak paneer MUST be ordered each time I go. Seriously, can't get enough of that stuff. The wait staff is very attentive, but not in that annoying stop listening in on my conversation kind of way. The only negative is the strip mall location.

The service was absolutely HORRIBLE. My husband and his friend both ordered the all-you-can-eat Dosa special, and they waited with empty plates for about twenty minutes in between each of their Dosa servings. Our waiter (I don't know his name, but he was short and had quiet and high voice) didn't bring them one of the dips for the mango Dosas, so they was plain and empty. Then he didn't EVER bring the last two kinds of Dosas they requested. He stopped coming to our table, never made eye contact, never checked in on us--not even to fill up our glasses. We waited for him for a really long time--he went to other tables but seemed to have forgotten all about us. We eventually stacked up all of our plates, and a waitress came over to clear them. I think we'd still be sitting there waiting for our bill if we hadn't asked the waitress for it. I've never left a restaurant so dissatisfied and frustrated before. It was my husband's and my first time there, but we went with some friends who'd had a really great experience on Thursday Dosa night last week, so I don't know why it was so terrible tonight. I'm not sure if I'd ever go there again. I feel like we would have had a better experience with a different waiter or waitress. Regarding the food, the curries and naan were decent but not as good as ones at The Bombay House. I didn't try the Dosas, but our friend said they weren't as good of options as the ones he had last time.

Tandoor offers delicious and authentic Indian food, in beautiful serving dishes that are unique and different than any other Indian restaurant in town. The lunch buffet is a very good deal, even though choices are limited. The a la carte menu items are seasoned perfectly, but the portions are somewhat small. Buffet or a la carte, the food never disappoints.

Absolutely loved this place! 4 of us tried it last night for the 1st time. It is located in a pretty random strip mall on 33rd South. However, as soon as you walk in, the ambiance is quality. I love a nice meal on white tablecloths! I have tried numerous Indian restaurants in Salt Lake and I have to say, Tandoor was a pleasant surprise. The service was fabulous. I called ahead to make sure we could get a table and the lovely woman on the phone was so polite and accomodating. The service was consistently stellar throughout the meal. The only reason I am going 4 stars as opposed to the grandiose 5 star rating is due to the 1st timers in my group. We ordered the typical curry dishes that were not all that adventurous. However, they were some of the most flavorful, well prepared dishes that I have had. The 4 curry dishes were all distinctive in flavor and incredibly soul satisfying. The naan was fresh, warm and fluffy...much like I felt upon our departure! If you haven't tried it, please do! Dare I say, I would be more inclined to enjoy dinner at Tandoor over Bombay House. Yes, I said it!

If you're looking for dinner options, this place is well worth a try. We've been twice and enjoyed the food and the service. Extra props are in order for having some south Indian dishes (three cheers for masala dosa!) Oh, and rasmalai! This is the first place in Utah I've seen offer these delicious creamy treats. Their service has been well above-average both times we've been in, which really makes me a happy customer. Why should businesses that don't put in the extra effort on customer service be rewarded with my dollars when a place like Tandoor Indian Grill is going out of their way to satisfy? This is not the very best Indian food I've ever had, but it's solid and given the extra attention to service, I will happily eat here many times in the future.

My Indian friend took me there last year for the lunch buffet, and after that my husband and I go there sometimes. Whether you want to order from menu or eat from the buffet, the food are very tasty. Service there was always good.

Mmmmm...curry! I am a big fan of these guys. I love coming for the lunch buffet. They have a lot of different options and freshly cook naan just for your table. Other places seem to cook a lot of naan and just leave it on the heaters all day? That makes the bread go hard and not very good. They have a very friendly staff and super quick service. I am definitely coming back for sure.

Good lunch buffet. Your own fresh batch of naan was a nice touch. The food selection was about what you would expect from an Indian buffet, but the quality was on the higher side. Good food. Will have to try them for a nonbuffet meal at some point.

The customer service here is top-notch. Our waiter was extremely accomodating; at first he was a little shy but warmed up after he saw we were truly interested in the food. We asked what he suggested and, of course, he suggested what most Americans would typically order. When I told him that I eat Indian a lot and I wanted to try something HE liked, he got excited and started going into the details of the different menu options that he preferred, asking if we had tried different dishes and customizing the suggestions as he went. He described flavors and ingredients very carefully and even told when food was used every day or for special occasions. It was education while eating. ;) The owner stopped by and also asked how everything was- I appreciate this kind of service in a restaurant. The interior is good- they've done some nice work with softening the interior with curtains and some intricately carved furniture in the lobby, but don't expect high-fashion. It may get there with time; it looks like they are going in that direction. The food & service definitely are the stars of the show here (and that's what matters, right?). The food itself was among the best Indian I have had. This type of food is among my top three (Sushi, Indian & Southern are my favorites), so hopefully that gives me some credit as a judge. ;) It was beautifully colored, had all the amazing spices that Indian food is known for and tasted fresh. The serving portions were enough that we took some home (but that might have also been because we ordered many of his suggestions ;), but it was reluctantly that we stopped eating. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of- surprisingly- was the plain naan. They have a few different flavors and I would suggest going with the garlic or another. The mango lassi was very light & fresh tasting- perfect with dinner. The menu is pretty extensive, so make sure you go ahead and ask questions (if you have any). And if you like spicy- medium won't hit it. They've toned it down for Utah, it seems. I didn't even feel the heat at medium. Last note, this place is perfect if you have a large group. There's plenty of space and the tables are easily moved around. Given the location, it's a good choice for a business lunch/get together. In fact, a large group came in while we were eating and seemed perfectly happy. A few tables had some rambunctious kids- with all the space that was in the restaurant, no one seemed to mind. Introduce your young'uns to some new culinary tastes!

Great service, warm atmosphere and yummy indian food! they have Dosas which is a HUGE thin pancake with fillings. (south indian) and north indian dishes as well. i have never tried the buffet. Dinner is always a relaxing and tasty experience. good rice, breads, rogan josh, vindaloo, curries. everything i have ever ordered here was very good and freshly made to order. Great caring staff. beer and wine and yummy chai and lassi.

I might agree with a lot of the other reviews that this is one of the better Indian buffets in town ON THE WEEKEND. India House is still the king of my pallet when it comes to relentless Indian gorging. Maybe because of the fact that this is some very Americanized Indian cuisine, to the point that I didn't enjoy the Chicken Tikka Masala at all. It was just way too creamy and very sweet with no curry kick. And had I known that it was going to be absent of any heat I would have brought my bottle of ghost pepper sauce. So if you're a big fan of the CTM but like it how it's made in India or Europe, this is not going to be your cup of chai. Some of the other stuff on the buffet was really good though, and the service was top notch. The garlic naan is superior to most Indian joints but there are no samosas or dosha on the buffet. Although I would come here again on a Saturday or Sunday, if it's a weekday and I'm jonseing for some curry, or if India House ever comes to it's senses and puts their buffet out on the weekend, you'll find me in Sandy.

Very friendly, great service, great food. Their lunch buffet is the best I've had in town, fantastic variety and often something new I've not tried before. Wonderful dishes for vegetarians. The dosas are good too, but I prefer the buffet. I often get takeout from here too, and it's always fresh and tasty. Highlights of the buffet: tandoori chicken, spicy cauliflower, pakoras, all the varieties of paneer are the best, and don't miss the mango mousse if it's available. One of my very favorite restaurants in SLC. Obviously a favorite of the local east Indian community too (which is how I found out about it).

In my experience this place has consistently poor service. They are quick to seat you, but I hope you're not hungry, because they won't be back for a while. I really wanted to like this place, but after several visits they have managed to convince me that it just isn't worth it.

I consider myself seasoned when it comes to Indian food. I recently tried the Chicken Makhani with garlic naan and was blown away. I'm prefer the mild, but the spicy is great as well. The lunch buffet is well worth it.

My boyfriend and I love Indian food, and we have tried almost all places in the Salt Lake area. Tandoor Grill is our favorite, with Bomnay house a close second. We choose Tandoor every time because the service there is wonderful. We love the servers, and they know us well and have memorized our favorite dishes and how we like them cooked. I highly recommend that anyone who likes indian food, and good service, go here.

I've read some bad reviews about Tandoor's lunch buffet. Look, ALL Indian buffets suck. Don't ever do them. Still, the real menu at Tandoor is five star awesome.

I am bumping Tandoor Indian Grill back up to 4 stars because I last gave it 3 stars (which I had taken down from 4 to begin with) so this averages it out to about 3 1/2 stars. Chicken Tikka Masala = 5 stars. I like it even better than Bombay House Tikka Masala because the flavor is absolutely amazing without being overpowering. It doesn't taste like the Tandoor spice blend you can buy in the store- if they do use something like that, they must add more to it to make it taste like they used their own spice blend. I think they use their own tandoori spice blend, but whatever they did, they did a great job. It had whole cardamon pods in it which says great things about their attention to flavor. I loved the tomato-ey sauce which wasn't too acidic. It wasn't even creamy, which you would think would be a bad thing, but it really didn't need it. It also didn't taste like a metal can. I cannot say enough about it's goodness. I think this may be their best dish. The Chicken was perfect. Very marinated, flavorful, tender, and not dry. The sauce is SO GOOD!!! My most favorite of anywhere. Bombay house version is really good but I can only eat a little bit because the sauce is strong like a marinade. My husband can't decide which is better, he loves both. Finding whole spices in the food= 5 stars. In addition to the whole cardamon pods in the Chicken Tikka Masala, there was also whole star anise in the Vegetable Coconut Korma. A good sign. Vegetable Coconut Korma= hmmm... I need to break it down more. -Whole spice finding= 5 stars -Sauce= 4 stars The flavor was awesome but I subtracted a star for being too sweet. -Vegetables= 1 star. Only for the fact that there were indeed vegetables in the Vegetable Coconut Korma. Last time I said I liked the veggie combination. This time it was different (or maybe it's me that's different). I am pretty positive they used frozen vegetables. Why would you use frozen vegetables? Especially in the summer? Carrots get a sort of spongy texture and flavorless when they have been frozen. There were mostly carrots in this. Whoever invented frozen carrots is lame. Carrots keep well without freezing if stored properly. It also had frozen (pretty sure) green beans and sliced zucchini. Zucchini and beans are so in season right now- they should take advantage of the seasons. It's like the spice of life or whatever. That's the spice that's missing from this dish. Medium Hot level of spiciness- 0 stars. Um, I think they entirely forgot to add the spicy heat. I feel like I have to ask for burn my head off hot to get medium spice. Maybe they think Americans are wussies. Because some of us really are. Gosh! Ruining it for everyone! The Onion Naan (not on the menu) = 5 stars for being really good and also because they made it special for me. But it would get 5+ if it had more cilantro. They really should put it on the menu. because it's really good. Roti=2 stars. It was heavy, floury, and not that flavorful. The thinness and cooked-ness is what got stars. Also, something I noticed last time as well as this time is that they only use a very small amount of whole wheat flour in it. It is described as whole wheat bread. Most people who make wheat bread think they have to add at least half white flour or it won't be good. But it pretty much tasted like white bread. disappointing. they should just try all whole wheat. The trick is to add less flour and leave the dough stickier for lighter bread. Using a finer (stone ground) flour also makes a difference. (Dear Tandoor Indian Grill, just try it. Signed, I really want to love MORE from you so there can be a really good Indian restaurant closer to where I live than Provo.) ...Don't even try to do the math. Somehow in my mind it all averages out to 3 1/2 stars.

Pretty decent lunch buffet. Their tikka masala is quite tasty, and I enjoyed the naan. If you're looking for a quick lunch, you can definitely get in and out within an hour.

Delish food, nice service-water always promptly refilled, and excellent vegetarian options! Also, you can't be the price $10 for the lunch buffet. The reason for the 3 stars was atmosphere...

The food is just ok, but the service is terrible. If you want Indian food plus service, go to Bombay House.

This restaurant seemed depressingly stuffy, almost like it was trying to hard to be upscale. The ambiance was stiff and lifeless, and there was hardly anyone in the place. However, I must say that the food certainly made up for the lack of good ambiance. I tried a pumpkin curry creation that was an interesting take on classic Indian food. I was impressed with the creative twist. The flavor was incredible and the service was great. I would definitely go back. I noticed that many of the dishes offered a halal meat equivalent, and the vegetarian offerings were diverse and plentiful.

This is one of my favorite take out restaurants. At first look I would have easily dismissed this place. The strip mall location doesn't necessarily scream fresh, delicious Indian food with great service. The garlic naan is a must. I love knowing that I'm supporting a small, family owned restaurant. Definitely give this place a chance.

This is one of our favorite restraunts! My husband and I are making our way thru the entire menu and haven't found anything we don't absolutely love.

My friend and I haven't had Indian food for awhile and decided to try out Tandoor since it's nearby. The interior was very nice and classy, pretty unexpected. The rose in the big water bowl and the stainless steel water pitcher and salt and pepper shaker were a nice, modern touch. We ordered the garlic naan which was yummy. I could still smell the garlic 3 hours later at home that night. Tandoor chicken was good also. Nice marinade with the sauteed onions and peppers. The owner recommended the Tikka Massala (spelling?) chicken, which was decent. I expected a more of a curry sauce but this one was a more tomato base. It came out in a small dish but surprisingly had many chunks of chicken and filled us up. The rice was also very good and flavorful. The service was great, they came and checked on us about 5-6 times during the evening. I would love to come back to try the buffet to try other dishes.

Best Indian food around. Their lunch buffet is amazing. Fresh naan wonderful service and atmosphere. Nice little date place can't go wrong at all. We always leave so full, satisfied and for $25. We love it.

I tried their Sunday lunch buffet recently. The spread had a lot more variety since the last time I had been there and it did taste good. I'd have to say it was probably worth the 10 bucks.

Tandoor has pretty good food if you order off of the menu. Their buffet isn't very spicy for my taste. I do order american hot or indian 1. They do have a nice curry chicken or lamb saag. Their buffet is nice if you are a vegitarian or vegan. They aren't heavy on the chicken. It is a worth the money for a nice lunch.

It may be in a strip mall but I love "hole in the wall" places like this. A friend and I went because I heard they had a gluten free menu. While they do not have a separate menu listing gluten free foods the wait person was happy to point out what items on the menu my friend could eat. I had the cilantro chicken and naan. The chicken was good. Chunk of chicken in a cilantro sauce over rice. The naan is very good. My friend had the tandoori chicken. It was 6 pieces of chicken (thighs and legs) served with grilled vegetables on an iron skillet brought to the table still sizzling. She liked it very much. All in all a good experience. I will go back.

Really good food. Tried a little bit of everything from a party of 10. Everything was fantastic. The service was a bit sluggish but probably just from the size of the party. I recommend it.

As a huge fan of Indian food, this is the only place in the valley we go. The prices are super reasonable, the potion size hearty, the service excellent and the food is superior. Their mushroom mutar is the best I've had in the US by far and away. They are also very good to their regulars and know how to pour a lovely glass of wine. Their take-out service is also excellent, and always warm and well packaged.

This place is way too dirty and the food not good. It's just a nasty Indian food buffet. Sick! Will not ever go back.

Great food, good service. Could use a little work on the atmosphere, but it is in a strip mall so I don't know if there is much you can do. The dosas and naan are among the best I have had anywhere. Great place for large birthday dinners, too. This Indian restaurant is a hidden gem.

I've been to this Indian place twice for the lunch buffets. delicious! Out of the three Indian places I've been to in SLC, this one is the best. Bright flavors, great taste, not greasy. yum!!! Not sure what the ambience or selection is for dinner but I'd sure give it a try!

Great place for lunch! Located in a very awkward neighborhood area with no great real estate, but inside it is excellent! Pretty good food! Not top of the line, like Bombay House but much better than the Himalayan Kitchen's lunch buffet. Good selection of true Indian foods from three or four different curries, chicken biryani, samosas, vegetable pakoras and of course a nice Indian rice pudding and ice cream to finish off the meal. A great, ethnic buffet, with good selection for only $10 a head, not a bad way to go! Highly recommend it!

Wow. I am impressed with everything about this place. The staff was so attentive to everything we needed, the food was delicious, and the environment was perfect. My favorite dish was the lamb cilantro by far, but the biryani chicken is a close second. I left stuffed to the max and didn't regret one bit. The variety can accommodate any type of eater. This is a must try!

Professional and kind staff! Food is high quality with the perfect amount of spices. The best Indian food in SLC and I have tried them all. Check this place out, you will not be sorry!

Extremely rude hostess, I guess when the owner is not around they do whatever they please. We usually like this place but despite being regular here and even the hostess has seen us many times, she didn't let us dine at 9.35 pm. The door said Open and the hours to close is listed as 10 pm. At least be polite about it, never going back and would make sure we do not have good recommendation for this place. This was today Friday 11/8/2014. Very pissed!

I came to Tandoor Indian Grill on Friday for the lunch buffet and was unmoved by the cuisine. There was a lot of variety and I was impressed by the number of vegetarian options, but nothing I tried was really great. The na'an was especially bad -- too doughy. Service was thorough, perhaps overly so. The waitress repeatedly bent down, put her face between my face and my book, and loudly inquired, "Would you like more water?!" Pass. The bill after tip was $13 and change. Too much, I felt, for the quality of food I received. For that price, I'd rather go to my favorite Indian restaurant and order my favorite entree.

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic- i don't have a favorite dish because there are just too many I love ( this is the only restaurant where I can close my eyes and point to the menu and I will love it). It is always fresh, fast, and delicious. The staff is also super nice. If you're not sure what to try, go to the Sunday buffet to have an awesome sampling menu. Dosa night on Thursdays is just a bonus.

I gave Tandoor 4 stars mostly because of their service. The servers go the extra mile in making sure you have everything you need and are comfortable. Very nice atmosphere as well. Food is good, not spectacular--plenty of options though.

Another good Indian restaurant near my house! I've driven by Tandoor many times over the last couple of years but didn't even think twice. I just wrote it off as a blah restaurant in a weird little "strip mall." But don't let the exterior fool you like it fooled me. I've gone a few times now and the service was a little off the first couple of times but there's one particular waitress there (I'm awful and can't recall her name) that is wonderful. She's prompt, very professional, and checks on you to make sure you've got everything you need, including water. Thankfully I've had her the last few times I've gone and it's great. I don't know how long they've been doing it or how long it will last but they are currently doing a daily special combo using local vegetables. I love this. Last time I went, a friend had a ginger carrot soup, regular rice, coconut rice, vegetable curry, and another curry with okra. It was all so good! And reasonably priced around $12-14. It was a lot of food. I've had a handful of dishes like the tikka masalas, makhanis, and saags. All of them good. But I'm going to tell you my favorite dish. It's the Gobi Manchurian. It's just Cauliflower cooked in Manchurian sauce. What is Manchurian sauce? No idea. All I know is that it's delicious. The cauliflower is crunchy and the sauce is tangy sweet. So so good.

I've definitely warmed up to Tandoor Indian Grill over the years. I wasn't a huge fan initially, but its certainly been tweaked and worked on over the years. In the past year I've 'rediscovered' it and its served me many a fine meal. Staff are fantastic and the dining space is one of the nicest Indian restaurants in the valley. What I'm especially impressed about of late is the continued commitment to evolution. Too many restaurants sit on their laurels. Tandoor has an early bird organic vegi menu right now that looks delicious. Theres a Dosa evening on Thursday with an all you can eat deal for a set price. Seriously guys, can we all try something other than Chicken Tikka Massala once in a blue moon - and give these chefs a chance to shine and cook some more interesting things!

Tandoor vs. Bombay House is like like Ali vs. Frasier. It goes back and forth. Still some slight variances occasionally, in the recipes, but I've come to enjoy them, because THE FOOD IS ALWAYS, CONSISTENTLY, VERY VERY GOOD HERE. THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! Standard dishes are done excellently, and fantastic Southern cuisine is available to boot! This combo is very hard to beat. Tandoor is quite easily my favorite Indian restaurant in the valley.

My favorite indian restaurant to eat at in salt lake city, everything I've tried there is delicious! The Garlic naan is really good as well as the chicken tikki massala. the atmosphere is calm and inviting and the staff are friendly.

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

(3)Julie H.
(5)Brian B.
(5)John C.
(4)Zuhadi Z.
(4)Ardyce L.
(5)Dave V.

(5)Vida A.
(3)Sudeep B.
We tried the lunch buffet and it was pretty good - there were lots of options for both vegetarians as well as non vegetarians. The chicken kabab was great and do definitely try the mango chutney! Overall a great option for buffet lunch
(4)Yemeng Z.

(4)Neil D.
Hi this is Neil a regular costumer of this famous indian restaurant , every dish have a delicious and great elaborate flavor , is not just that the tables and silverware apperance are great and the delicate and professional manner the crew treat you is something else , tanddor is a great delicious experience at this my hometown Salt Lake City
(5)Anita C.
(4)MJ C.
Not only is the food amazing, but the staff is amazing. Komal is not only very professional and kind, but we look forward to seeing her every time. There are other places close to our house but we make the trip just for Komal and the restaurants amazing food!!
(5)Sean S.
We've never dinned in here but my wife and I have gotten carry out on several occasions. We have tried several of the curries and the naan and have always been very happy with the food. The service is always polite and quick. The food is a good quality and quantity for the price.
(4)Lynn H.
Tandoor Indian Grill ranks as one of the top Indian food restaurants in the Salt Lake valley. Serves was excellent and the quality of food perfect.
(5)Tim M.
Amazing lunch buffet, great curries, excellent service. If they have it try the incredible mango ice cream. Fairly inexpensive as well. It's a nice alternative to the Bombay House if you get tired of the busyness. The interior is old school strip mall, but the great food makes up for it.
(4)D. W.
(3)Josh W.
Incredible chicken tikka masala (I'd recommend getting it at least medium spice, as it's not very hot and the spice seems to thicken up the dish and enhance the flavor). Also give the Aloo Naan a try with it - amazing! My wife also likes the Masala Dosa a lot
(5)Wayne J.
Food is amazing! They have dishes from both Northern and Southern India so there is something for everyone. If you are lucky enough to make it for lunch here, try the Buffett.
(4)Julianne W.
(4)Orson M.

(5)Lala P.

Ok I guess

This place never fails to deliver, with the different Naan breads and curries, there's something for everyone.
(4)Mylan D.
(2)Ad S.
Hands down best Indian food. I never know what I'm ordering but am pleasantly surprised every time. Nearly had everything on the menu and haven't had any thing bad
(5)Jayden P.
This place is great too, if you are looking for REAL indian cuisine!!! Buffet is great too. Lots of variety. Great flavors. Probably one of the best places in salt lake city.
(5)Sangeetha S.

(4)Dream N.

(4)Kristy M.
Best Indian food lunch buffet in town! They always have an excellent variety of options, including many that are vegetarian and gluten-free. The price for such good and abundant food is very reasonable, and the service is always excellent
(5)Gus V.
Awesome Indian food very clean and neat please, taste was perfect, and the food quality is very good and the buffer for lucnch time for 10 bucks is the best part!!!! I will come back all the time great experience for my first visit
(5)Beej C.
(4)Nicholas D.
(4)Jim H.
(5)Brittney H.

(4)Brent V.
(3)Valerie B.
We Love this place! Come here every time we're in the area! Good atmosphere, great people and fantastic food! We've been for lunch and dinner and both are outstanding! From the appetizer, to the meal, to the extras like their garlic naan!
(5)Liz B.
(4)Kenny F.
(5)Holly S.
They have a fabulous lunch buffet, so you get to sample several dishes. So delicious.
(5)Brad B.
(5)Chandra M.
Had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice and Mango Lassi, pretty classic meal. I really enjoyed it! Not quite as spicy as I would like, but still great and the price was very reasonable!
(4)Candice S.
(4)Sam V.
(4)Andrew S.
(5)Savannah G.
Tandoor is my FAVORITE Indian restaurant! The food is always beyond delicious. I almost always get the dosas. The lunch buffet is a treat as well, especially for the price. They also have the best, friendliest, and most accommodating service. I've definitely become a regular here!
(5)Charlynn T.
(5)Jerry P.

(5)Carlo R.
Excellent food and the Samosa's are excellent! The service was great as well. We'll be back to this spot for sure!
(5)Neha S.
The buffet was terrible. Lot of the food seemed stale. I've had better food here before but after today will have to think twice before considering this place!
(2)Doug C.
(4)Blake E.
Best service...EVER! The food was great as well! We had chicken tikka masala (obviously) and it was spectacular! The naan was perfect and several different types of dosa were delicious.
(5)Svaram G.
My wife and I are visiting SLC. We craved for some Indian food and chose to go to Tandoor. It was not a mistake. The décor is good. Service is good too. We are Indians and we are generally unhappy with most North Indian restaurants in the US because their food in generally excessively creamy. But this restaurant was not like that. The food was tasty and we didn't get any bloated stomach feeling. Naan was great and so was Tandoori chicken. Gobi Manchurian - had large pieces, but still well done. They served free rice with the Navrattan Kurma, which is nice. Overall, we enjoyed dining at Tandoor.
(4)Eric P.
Had the Lamb Korma and it was excellent. Service was good. Tandor came highly recommended by some Indian nationals, and I will agree with them. Highly recommend Tandor Grill.
(5)Sandra W.
(4)Brendan K.
(5)Amber F.
This place is very nice & clean. The staff is attentive & polite. I had chicken tikki masala. it was good but not the best Indian food in the valley. The chicken was actually perfect but the sauce flavor was a bit mute.
(3)S C.
This place is so yummy! Everyone is super friendly and there's never a long wait. Prices are good for the amount of food. I love this place. I always get get the chicken tiki Marsala.
(5)Israel H.
(5)Stephanie L.
(4)Tommy W.
Indian is by far my favorite cuisine, but Tandoor Grill managed to disappoint me. I gave them two chances and neither time was the food up to par. If you want a much better experience, try Bombay House or New Delhi Palace.
(2)Greg P.
Good. Wait staff was friendly and no complaints about the food. Nothing stood out. The service was a little slow but I think it was just a mixup with my order going to the wrong table. They gave me a free tapioca dessert, but it was lumpy. Overall just fine, I would return unless I found a better place.
(3)Alan W.
(5)Maggie P.
(4)Mikal O.
(5)Niaree H.
(4)Chrystal F.
This place is great for takeout or first dates. The marinated chicken skewers with peanut sauce is divine. Great vegetarian options as well.
(4)Laurie R.
(5)Becky G.
Tried the lunch buffet several months ago. It was on the higher end of adequate. Nothing blew me away. The atmosphere was a little off-putting. I'd be okay going back there, but why, when there's places like Bombay House and Himalayan Kitchen?
(3)Lara B.
(4)Sarah N.
(4)Becca C.
I didn't try the Dosas, but our friend said they weren't as good of options as the ones he had last time.

lamb saag. you can actually taste the spinach!!! can't say that about bombay house. pumpkin masala with chutney (can't remember the type of chutney). like nothing i've ever tasted. so good!

I went for lunch recently and it was fantastic! A great buffet for only $10 with a great selection of flavors! We ordered garlic naan too and they gave you so much! Delightful.

(4)H. W.
My Indian friend took me there last year for the lunch buffet, and after that my husband and I go there sometimes. Whether you want to order from menu or eat from the buffet, the food are very tasty. Service there was always good.
(4)Scott R.
(5)Ryan M.

I love this place. There food is always tasty and they have pretty good customer service. I always recommend it. I tried other places but this one is the best in my opinion.
(4)Jill H.

(3)Greg N.
(5)Matt M.
In my experience this place has consistently poor service. They are quick to seat you, but I hope you're not hungry, because they won't be back for a while. I really wanted to like this place, but after several visits they have managed to convince me that it just isn't worth it.
(2)Tj B.
I consider myself seasoned when it comes to Indian food. I recently tried the Chicken Makhani with garlic naan and was blown away. I'm prefer the mild, but the spicy is great as well. The lunch buffet is well worth it.
(4)Natascha J.
(5)MC Free W.
I've read some bad reviews about Tandoor's lunch buffet. Look, ALL Indian buffets suck. Don't ever do them. Still, the real menu at Tandoor is five star awesome.
(2)Katie H.
(4)Ryan K.
Pretty decent lunch buffet. Their tikka masala is quite tasty, and I enjoyed the naan. If you're looking for a quick lunch, you can definitely get in and out within an hour.
(3)Tye B.
Upper half of the Indian world in Utah. Good service, good food, but I've only eaten here once.
(4)Sarah R.
Delish food, nice service-water always promptly refilled, and excellent vegetarian options! Also, you can't be the price $10 for the lunch buffet. The reason for the 3 stars was atmosphere...
(3)preston p.
The food is just ok, but the service is terrible. If you want Indian food plus service, go to Bombay House.
(2)Kristal K.
(4)Erin N.
(4)Tami F.
This is one of our favorite restraunts! My husband and I are making our way thru the entire menu and haven't found anything we don't absolutely love.
(5)Belange H.
(4)Britney H.
Best Indian food around. Their lunch buffet is amazing. Fresh naan wonderful service and atmosphere. Nice little date place can't go wrong at all. We always leave so full, satisfied and for $25. We love it.
(5)Lauren O.
Don't let appearances fool you. Food was delicious and great service. Highly recommend.
(5)Kumar S.
Good for its price. But caters more to the non Indian patrons.
(4)Harsha R.
I tried their Sunday lunch buffet recently. The spread had a lot more variety since the last time I had been there and it did taste good. I'd have to say it was probably worth the 10 bucks.
(3)Mike H.
(3)Kenn S.
(3)Jeremy T.
Really good food. Tried a little bit of everything from a party of 10. Everything was fantastic. The service was a bit sluggish but probably just from the size of the party. I recommend it.
(4)Emily M.
(5)Melrose M.
This place is way too dirty and the food not good. It's just a nasty Indian food buffet. Sick! Will not ever go back.
(1)Donnie M.
Great food, good service. Could use a little work on the atmosphere, but it is in a strip mall so I don't know if there is much you can do. The dosas and naan are among the best I have had anywhere. Great place for large birthday dinners, too. This Indian restaurant is a hidden gem.
(4)Paula A.
Great food, wonderful service and very helpful with gluten free menu!
(5)Margaret I.
I've been to this Indian place twice for the lunch buffets. delicious! Out of the three Indian places I've been to in SLC, this one is the best. Bright flavors, great taste, not greasy. yum!!! Not sure what the ambience or selection is for dinner but I'd sure give it a try!
(4)Jarem A.
(5)V S.
A place where you really feel like home. Delicious food served with great hospitality and generosity.
(5)Sarina L.
(5)Krista B.
Professional and kind staff! Food is high quality with the perfect amount of spices. The best Indian food in SLC and I have tried them all. Check this place out, you will not be sorry!
(5)Robin c.
(1)Julie F.
My husband and I stopped in last night to try Tandoor Indian Grill. I LOVE it! the Ticca Masala was just right. The service was great and friendly! We will be back!
(5)Haley B.
(3)Cade L.
You have tried the rest now try the best... Lunch buffet with Garlic Naan FTW!!!
(5)L V.
(5)Felix B.
I gave Tandoor 4 stars mostly because of their service. The servers go the extra mile in making sure you have everything you need and are comfortable. Very nice atmosphere as well. Food is good, not spectacular--plenty of options though.
(4)Vi T.
So so good.
(4)Keri A.
We have been here several times for dinner and have loved it every time- the food is delicious. We have always been treated well and found the restaurant clean and attractive. Definitely a restaurant we frequent.
(5)Carla B.
Seriously the best buffet (not just Indian buffet. Best buffet) I have ever had. I ate enough to last me the entire day. Best food. You have to go.
(5)Stuart M.
(4)Geoff W.
(5)Boo D.
My favorite indian restaurant to eat at in salt lake city, everything I've tried there is delicious! The Garlic naan is really good as well as the chicken tikki massala. the atmosphere is calm and inviting and the staff are friendly.
